Here a few of my favourite ultramarathon news stories and updates in the last week:
Runner breaks his own 50K treadmill world record Runners World UK reports on a new world record set by Michael Wardian in California, breaking the 3 hour barrier!
An interesting article at RunUltra by Ian Corless about a Trail Running series in Menorca which took place earlier this month. With several different distances available over 3 days, this could be an ideal way to combine a family holiday with some trail races. Although you’ve just missed this years event, plans are already in place for the 2016 version.
Ultrarunner Podcast Interview with Bob Shebest. The podcasts hosts interview Bob who is a high-class athlete currently focusing on 100 mile ultramarathons. Bob gives some great insights on the mental aspects of ultras and how he trains. My favourite quote from Bob is when he discusses how he has progressed from Ironman Triathlon to 100 mile ultras: “we are always try to continually evolve…developing new skills to meet new challenges”.
