A Quick Review of SUGOi Men’s Titan Ice 7 Inch Running Shorts
As part of my training for the 9bar 9×9 trail race in October 2015 I have purchased a number of items of kit. Hopefully you will find these brief reviews useful if you are looking for your own kit for training and/or racing, particularly for ultra-marathons.
The Frimley 10km on Sunday 3rd May was the first opportunity I had to try out my Sugoi Men’s Titan Ice 7 Inch Running Shorts and they were very comfortable and I will probably wear these for most of my planned races from now on.
These 2-in-1 SUGOi shorts are made of a lightweight shell material that moves very easily and an inner fitted brief for that provides a level of support as well as being very comfortable. I found that the longer inner provides protection against rubbing of the thighs which can become a problem with distance running in normal shorts.
The Sugoi Men’s Titan Ice 7 Inch Running Shorts  have a zipped pocket at the back which is ideal for holding keys or some cash as well as two side pockets. The back pocket is waterproofed, presumably more to guard against sweat damaging the contents rather than rain. The side pockets do not have zips which is perhaps the only fault I can really find with these shorts. Finally the shorts have some reflective details to increase visibility in low-light.
If you don’t like black then you are out of luck as these shorts only come in one colour! I really like these 2-in-1 shorts and would only look to change to something else for races if I were to find a pair of shorts with zipped side pockets and possibly gel loops.
SUGOi specialise in technical clothing for cycling, running and triathlon and have a philosophy of designing and making items that endurance athletes will want to wear. One of the co-founders is an ex-professional cyclist and the SUGOi team seem committed to being active themselves in a number of sports.
I recommend these shorts to anyone running longer distances and they will be ideal shorts for trail running. They aren’t cheap but should last a long time and it is worth shopping around as I have seen them on offer occasionally.
