The Last of Us is a post-apocalyptic third person action-adventure game set in the United States after a terrible virus outbreak. The fungal Cordyceps virus has humanity and society to fall apart completely. As a result of the virus humans have been reduced to their most primal states, killing each other for food, water and other resources.

The Last of Us has been universally acclaimed, receiving perfect scores from six review sites, and an aggregate score of 95/100 across all of the main sites.

The game starts in Austin, Texas. As the player, you take control of Joel, a man trying to escape this outbreak by fleeing with his brother. Jumping ahead to some twenty years later, Joel finds himself in a quarantine zone in Boston, Massachusetts. Now a rough, rugged survivor and smuggler, Joel teams up with Tess, his partner, to retrieve a weapons cache from a black market trader. When caught, the trader reveals that he has already traded the weapons to a rebel group called the Fireflies.

The head of the Fireflies makes an agreement with you to double the value of the rewards in the cache and you are given the task of smuggling a teenage girl, Ellie, to a Firefly HQ. Unfortunately, you soon realize that the Boston HQ has been destroyed and so you must escort Ellie across the country. Along the way, Joel and Ellie form a father-daughter relationship, and learn to protect one another.

The Last of Us: Remastered has two modes, single player and multiplayer. In single player, you can play two campaigns. The multiplayer version has three modes: Interrogation, Supply Raid, and Survivors.

Supply Raid and Survivors are similar, with both being Team Deathmatch style games, but in Survivors, you cannot respawn. Interrogation mode has players competing to find the locations of the opposing team’s lockbox, which can be found by capturing enemy players and interrogating them.

The Last of Us: Remastered is only available on PS4. The new additions to the remastered version include better graphics, a new additional story, and more multiplayer features.

The new story, Left Behind, gives the player a look into the past of Ellie, the girl you must rescue. The multiplayer has been upgraded by not only adding 8 new maps, but also giving you all DLC packs that were released for The Last of Us, which is worth over $30 on its own.
