I have a feeling that a single Google search I did today could just change my life. I discovered that a multipotentialite is someone who thrives on learning new skills and has have no one single calling in life in the way that specialists do.
I’m not 100% sure what led me to do a search for “what if I don’t have a passion” this morning but I have become increasingly frustrated recently with all the calls to select a niche for ones business activities. I have never felt comfortable with this and it has driven me away from a couple of membership sites where this was one of the key concepts.
Browsing through the results for this search I quickly came across a website called http://puttylike.com and I feel like I have found something I have been seeking for a long time. Puttylike is described as ” a home for people who have many interests and creative pursuits”. The founder of the site, Emilie Wapnick, believes that, “instead of picking one thing and denying all of our other interests, we can find ways to integrate our many passions into our lives.”
This really resonates with me as I have many interests but cannot really say any one of them is a “passion” and something I would want to focus on solely. I have long been seeking ways to build a side business that could include several, if not all, of my interests.
I plan to spend the next few days exploring the extensive archive on the site and then will probably purchase the Renaissance Business product which is described as “a guide to turning ALL of your interests into one digital business”. This sounds like just what I have been looking for. Emilie has also published a book that appears to cover similar ground and also has a membership site aimed at people who identify as Multipotentialites.
If this is truly what I have been looking for then I will blog here about my progress with the products and services offered by http://puttylike.com.
