Battlefield 1 – First Person Shooter
Battlefield is one of the biggest franchises in the First Person Shooter (FPS) game genre and is probably Call of Duty’s main competition. For their latest release, Battlefield has decided to try something different and instead of having another futuristic shooter, they decided to go back to the First World War with Battlefield 1. Some industry observers saw this as a risky move, but Battlefield 1 has been very well received by both reviewers and players. This iteration of the Battlefield series is full of new weapons and features, and is a must-have for all fans of FPS.
Terrain
As Battlefield is famous for, this game also has destructible terrain, e.g. an airship that has crashed can be used as cover or you could even hid inside it! Similarly, If you know that enemy troops are hiding behind a wall or in a building, you could have your artillery fire on it, leaving them exposed and more vulnerable to your own forces. You can even destroy parts of the land. So, if someone is running across a land bridge made of rock, it could be shot or bombed in order to make it collapse out from under their feet, making no place truly safe in this game!
Vehicles
Vehicles play a major role in Battlefield 1. There are many new vehicles to use, including three different models of tank, a range of light vehicles and airplanes, bombers, artillery, and even horses. The biggest addition to the vehicles available in the game, however, are three Behemoth vehicles. These include the L30 Airship, which is a huge Zeppelin, the Armored Train, which is an almost unstoppable train loaded with guns and armour, and the Dreadnought, a massive boat that can be used to bombard the land with artillery shells. When your team gets hold of one of these vehicles, your opponent is in definitely in trouble.
Gameplay
A few gameplay changes have been made from from previous Battlefield titles. Probably the most significant change is the size of the multiplayer matches that are possible. The new huge maps can house many more players, so you can now have up to sixty-four players, thirty-two on each team, going head to head in combat. The new weapons also change the way you have to play.
In a similar way to the real life battles in World War One, gas is used heavily in the new Battlefield 1 game. When gas is used soldiers are forced to put on their gas masks which means they then have restricted vision and are only be able to fire their weapons from the hip. If the soldiers don’t put on their gas masks, they won’t last very long.
