Training Update –
I am now 7 weeks into my training schedule and did my longest run for many years yesterday, completing 12 miles along the Basingstoke Canal, through Frimley and back along the Blackwater Valley Path. Week 7 totalled 24 miles over four runs.
It is not long now until my first race – the Frimley 10km on 3rd May – and I am starting to feel a little fitter. At this stage the only thing that concerns me is that I have absolutely no idea what time I might be able to run for 10km! I think the key thing is going to be not to set out too fast. My best guess is that I will finish in around 50 minutes but hopefully I can do it a little faster. I spent some time yesterday look up a few of my old results and found that I ran my last 10km in 45:31 on 8th August 2007!
Training is going pretty well though I know I have a long way to go to prepare for my main target, the 9bar9x9 event in October. Week 8 will include a 15 mile long run and I think I will do at least part of this over the North Downs Way between Farnham and Guildford.
9bar9x9 Entry Confirmation
Confirmation of my 9bar9x9 81km trail event entry came through the post last week in the form of a couple of gifts from 9bar in return for signing up early for the race:
The 9bar soft water bottle will be very useful with a handy karabiner attached and takes up virtually no space when it is empty. The bars are Fruity flavour which would not be my usual choice but I’ll certainly be trying them out!
